GRCF  Church History

Grass Roots Christian Fellowship (GRCF) was birthed in August of 2008 at a going away/send off for a friend at the home of
the Chenaults.  At this gathering a prophetic anointing fell upon the house. While this anointing was heavy upon everyone present, the genesis and name of the ministry was confirmed in the hearts of Herschel and Denise Chenault whom God had already spoken to. The Lord told us to establish this new work in Stafford Virginia and that people in Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Quantico Marine Base were waiting for this ministry.

The Chenaults prayed and then met with Marcelino & Sabrina Sanchez to ask them to help begin the work of starting GRCF.  They agreed to help begin the work.  The Lord then impressed upon us to establish the legal aspects of the ministry before we began to have actual services.

We retained the services of Abe Hernandez (Lawyer and Church Consultant) on September 15, 2008 to help us with this process.  By diligently following his lead, GRCF was incorporated in the state of Virginia as a non-stock corporation on November 5,  2008.  The following people agreed to serve on the Board of Trustees in October of 2008: Herschel & Denise Chenault, Marcelino & Sabrina Sanchez, and Francine Williams.

On November 17, 2008 a Federal Identification Number (FEIN-also referred to as Tax-exempt number) was issued.  Our first board meeting convened on November 30, 2008.  At this meeting the following resolutions were passed:  Bylaws, constitution, and authority to establish a bank account.  The bank account was opened on December 12, 2008 and the GRCF held its first “church service” on New Year’s eve night, December 31st, 2008 at 10:00pm at 4 Antietam Loop, Stafford, Virginia (Sanchez home).   Present at this service were Herschel & Denise Chenault, Marcelino & Sabrina Sanchez, Mr. Sherman Ross, Janeice Chenault, and Herschel Chenault III.  As you can see, the perfect number seven were in attendance for this first service. The first sermon was preached by Pastor Chenault, and was entitled: Spritual Rest- Key Scripture –Matthew 11:28

Much prayer went up to the Father as we sought His guidance on when to begin having services, because at this point we were already legally established as a church in the state of Virginia.  The Lord led us to begin having church services once a month on third Sunday beginning in February of 2009.  In April of 2009, we were directed by the Lord to begin having two services a month on first and third Sundays beginning in May 2009.

In July of 2009, GRCF was directed by the Lord to begin having services every Sunday beginning in October 2009.  To that end we began a search for possible locations to have services in the Stafford area.  GRCF reached an agreement in August 2009 to begin having services in October at the Wingate Hotel (15 Salisbury Dr. Stafford, Va. 22554) In November of 2013, GRCF reached an agreement with ELWYE Associates, LP, to begin having services in our current location of 17932 S. Fraley Blvd [The ELWYE Center (Suite 104)] Dumfries, Virginia 22026, pending approval of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) from the town of Dumfries.  On February 4th 2014, GRCF was officially approved for the CUP and began having services in March 2014.
